As the uprising against China’s increasingly hardline approach to democratic rule in Hong Kong burst into life in 2019, brave young protesters adopted a singular strategy – “Be Water”.
The principle was to be clear minded, formless, shapeless like water, to outthink and out maneuver the state security apparatus. This philosophy was borrowed from the teachings of a Hong King icon – the late martial arts legend and film superstar, Bruce Lee.
In her new book, Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee explores her father’s concepts and philosophies and how they can be applied to everyday life.
Whilst sharing her own experience of her father and taking us beyond the celluloid rendering of Bruce Lee as a mystical warrior, Shannon Lee offers readers a chance to think more deeply about how the mind, soul and spirit need to be in communion to succeed – whether in combat sport, or real life.
